God always sends us confirmations to confirm what he wants us to do. He will always speak to our own hearts first and then send people into our lives that will confirm that and not after we go and tell them what we heard God say, but when we don't even tell them a thing, someone, usually 2 or 3 different people will talk to you about what they believe God told them. That is one sure way. In Judges 6: 36 - 40, Gideon needed to believe that God would save Israel so he put God to the test to prove it was his will. God answered Gideon. The test was to have a fleece be wet with dew and the ground dry. That happened but Gideon still wanted to believe it was so, so he reversed that idea and wanted the ground wet and the fleece dry and it also happened. When you want to hear from God, put your faith out there and do what Gideon did and wait for your prayer to come to pass. Scripture says that when God opens a door, no man can shut it and when he shuts a door, no man can open it. If you are suppose to be a missionary, God will show you, just pray and believe and wait upon him. The same is true of being a poet. God does help those who help themselves too, so I suggest you start pursuing both of them and see if he keeps the doors open or shuts them. You may be surprised, he may lead you to do both.
