Part 2: Mac G4 iMac (snowball) How to open CD tray if computer will not start?

OK, this is for the G4 Flat panel snowball mac. CD tray will not open. How do I boot up from the install disc. The cd tray is operated by the keyboard button on the far upper right of the keyboard. As far as I can tell, there is not a hole for the famous paper clip trick. If a tech was going to work on my...

Try:
Press and hold the mouse button when turning the PC on.

Or click and hold, then —without removing the click— press the power button to turn the computer on, and keep holding the click.

At least these is interpreted as "eject" in most Apple Laptops, should work on iMacs as well, I think.

Just a partial answer on opening the cd tray,(maybe). Is there a door that swings down, and allows the cd tray to slide out? If there is it may be 'hiding' the area where the paper clip goes into. Probably on the left side, right under the cd tray, about an inch over from the left.

Edit: Power went off! lol! I'll come back to you on booting from an installation disk on a G4 iMac.

Edit 2: This is from a Windows and Linux user, (Seems redundant, doesn't it? I use Windows to keep my memory fresh on it, to try to answer questions on here, but Ubuntu is the shizzle!), so bear with me, as this is another new OS for me. I hope this page will help you:

There might be a pinhole opening. You take a paperclip, roll it out, and then put the paperclip in the hole. Check with your iMac G4's instruction book, though.

I am doing some of this from memory ...... try holding down the mouse button when you power up the machine and this should eject the CD or press C on the keyboard to try and boot from the cd that is in the drive.
