Burns are easily infected and when they are it can become very serious, more than an ordinary infected cut. Keep the wound clean, scrub your hands, apply a good amount of triple antibiotic cream applied with a sterile q-tip, and cover. Keep everything sterile when treating your wound, i.e. your hands, the q-tip, bandage, cream, etc. Change the bandage every day. If you see puss or other small blisters forming, or the the wound remains bright red, get to the doctor ASAP.
One thing to remember about oral antibiotics. If you do not take the full prescription as prescribed you are only hurting yourself. If you are giving a 10 day supply take all the pills for ten days. Taking a lesser amount will not cure the problem and causes your body to build up an immunity to antibiotics. You don't want that to happen. Taking five of the pills will not help you. You just created an immunity to antibiotics or a super bug in your body. Never take antibiotics unnecessarily.
