Joy Cowley (born in Levin, August 7, 1936) is a New Zealand author of novels, short stories, and children's fiction.

Cowley has been married three times, to Ted Cowley (1956-1967), Malcolm Mason (1970-1984), and Terry Coles (1989-present), and has four children. She currently lives in the Marlborough Sounds.
