Wikipedia has its dark corners with uncorrected errors and even the occasional "poop", but generally the information is better any other short summary you can find on the web or in a printed encyclopedia.
Wikipedia does not function well as an intelligence service. If the New York Times and Colin Powell say there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, we dutifully report same. We probably did a bit better at warning about the mortgage bubble, before it broke, then the mainstream media. So no, we're no more full of crap than anyone else, and generally, less so.
