If you love it eat it. My husband eats it- and I respect his choice. I'm not out to change any ones state of mind.
But you asked if I thought eating fish is cruel.
So my answer- is yes- I do..
They do feel pain for one.. have you ever studied an aquarium? Have you stuck your net inside? They do get scared - fleeing from the net. Same thing happens when you startle a marine fish in the ocean. They are curious creatures. Aware of their surroundings.
I don't think I could eat anything I'm completely amazed with. Like a panda bear for example, beautiful creatures(but G-d put them on this earth for eating right? Would you eat a panda?).. same thing.. couldn't eat a flounder either
As for health reasons.. this is what could be in your fish
mercury PCBs, BHC, chlordane, DDT, dieldrin, heptachlor, and diocin. These chemicals cause neurotoxity, which impairs a person's mental state and ability.
As for being number one food for pregnant women
it can inflict permanent brain damage on fetuses, infants, and children. That means they are slower than women who didn't eat alot of fish during pregnancy, slower to react- to walk-to talk- ect.
What can mercury do to you?
Well it can alter immune function raise blood pressure cause blindness or paralysis and is known to reduce fertility.
So.. it could be a health food- if you raise it yourself.. but it also still contains cholesterol. So up to you sweetie!
