What to wear to a gig?

Hello. I've been to a few gigs in my time but I always have the same issue of what to wear. Trying to decide what to wear to a gig I'm going to at the end of this month.

What do you wear to gigs?

What would you suggest I wear?

Update:

sensible or imaginitive answers. I don't mind

Update 2:

I'm a girl

I either wear skinny jeans tucked in to boots, or cut off trousers other wise the bottoms of jeans either get trodden on and ripped or just touch the floor that is always sticky from spilt beer etc.

Then i wear usually a vest top or something similar because it gets so hot, i usually do wear a coat and just leave in the cloakroom. Same with a bag, i always leave that in the cloakroom and just keep some money in my pockets....bags just get in the way.

I usually wear dark coloured shoes...for the same reasons that the floor is sticky and dirty, and people always tread on me, so dark shoes won't show dirt etc.

Also i have really long hair, so i either wear it up or with a hair band, seeing as I'm usually near the front and tend to get water poured over me which messes up my hair.

I don't ever wear long earrings or necklaces because they quite often get broken.

    Heres a suggestion for you:

It really depends on the location of the gig (arena, club, etc) and where you plan on standing (near the front, near the back, on the balcony, etc). The best answer would be a simple t-shirt and jeans with sneakers, while keeping in mind it is an unspoken faux pas to wear the t-shirt of the band you are going to see (except in the case of local bands). Check the weather if you'll be waiting outside. A small jacket would be ideal if it's a bit chilly outside, as you can tie it (tightly) around your waist if you plan on moving up close to the stage, where things are quite fiery.

Well I'm going to an aiden gig tonight and i'm just wearing skinny fit jeans a tshirt and a jumper. I wouldn't wear lose trousers or shoes because when i went to see madina lake i nearly lost my belt but then again it depends what kind of gig that was pretty mental but when i went to see mcr i was seated so i wore a skirt and that was fine too : )

Never wear a really flash top, guaranteed there will be something that gets spilt over it (I speak from personal experience!!)

I just go for jeans, pumps and a vest or t-shirt/t-shirt dress and then I leave my coat in the cloakroom... Don't know where you are, but Primark is amazing because it doesn't matter if the stuff gets trashed, as its so cheap! x x x x

    are u a guy or a girl??

I'd go with something comfortable like jeans and a t-shirt and I wouldn't wear decent shoes because I'd expect them to get ruined, especially if I went for the front))

wear lots of layers cause it'll be very hot inside then cold when you wait around before/get out after.

take a backpack with drawstring straps that you can keep your jumper/money in without stuff getting nicked.

kind of obvious on my part but totally something that is comfortable, there is nothing worse than being uncomfortable also something flattering (girl) and slightly dressy (skinny jeans and flat shoes but a really nice top). Guy well you can get away with jeans and a nice top.

also it depends what type of gig it is. i could be totally off.

    hope you find something. =)

if your going to a punk type of gig that might get a bit rough and tight always wear tight fitting trainers or shoes, ive had many a hairy moment trying to get my shoes back at these type of gigs.

It depends what kind of style you are anyway i guess but I would stay comfortable.

Skinny jeans, layered tops, cute tunic dress, trainers, t bar shoes all work well.
