cv - additional information?

I am applying to clothing shops and many application forms they give out ask for "additional information in support of your application and reasons why you would like to join our company"

what are some good things to include?

Any personal passion for the retail industry? Any interesting facts about yourself that would otherwise seem unnecessary or boasting? That extra box for "additional info" often perplexes people and overwhelms them to the point they don't put anything in it but make the most of it! Even if it's not strictly true. You have applied to more than one shop I presume so explain you have an intrerest in retail, a genuine and intelligent interest. Depending on the role you're applying for, and your age, maybe state that you're hoping to eventually work in the design or business side of retail. Or be honest and say you're a hard-working student (if applicable) and say you'd appreciate the opportunity to work with "shop A" and be dedicated to role given.
