Helium is not the only gas used in lighter-than-air flight. Air, wich is not an element can be used when heated inside of ye olde balloone. Bronze is also not an element, but both copper and tin are mentioned. Zinc is not, but brass (also not an element) is. Fe, Sn, and Pb - Numbers 31:22 Cu - Ezr 8:27 C (if you count diamond) - Exd 28:18 S Revelation 9:18 Sb Isaiah 54:11 Hg Proverbs 26:8 (Douay-Rheims Bible) Not that they would know to classify them as elements, although they certainly understood alloys (probably not compounds, though).
