I went through my "punk rocker" phase in high school, and lived in Gadzooks until they started having preppy clothes, then switched to Hot Topic when they first popped up in the mall near me (about 8 years ago now). But I only bought my super-wide leg pants and my plaid pants there. I didn't bother with a lot of their shirts. I supplemented my wardrobe with the real deal--thrift stores and salvation army stores. When people were paying $30 for brand new 70's style shirts, I bought the real deal for $10 at a thrift store. Now that I'm in my 20's, I tend to stay away. Can't really work a real "grown-up" job wearing purple plaid pants with bright red streaks in my hair. The store that I tended to shop in for the good music was Newbury Comics, but they're only in the Bostn area, so when I just moved, I had to leave it behind. Now my music is ordered over the internet.
