Can you work this out?????

guys out on a cheap stag week end.

They go to a cheap B@B.

The manager isnt there and the bell boy isnt sure how much the room is.

So, the 3 guys say "well, we will give you a tenner from each of us, and sort it later"

so, £10 from 3 people

£10

+£10

+£10 =

£30

The manager comes back and tells the bell boy it was only £25 and tells him to take the change back, and hands him £5.

Now, the bell boy was a little fed up cos he wasnt given a tip, and confused how to divide the £5 between 3.

So, he puts £2 as a tip in his pocket, and gives the guys £1 each back.

So, the guys pay £10 each, given £1 each back, So the price worked out at £9 each.

£9

+£9

+£9 = £27..... Right?

Then the bell boy pockets £2 making the total £29..........

Where did the other £1 go?

there're different version of the same riddle...the trick is that it should not add £30:

they each got £1 back, so, of the original £10 they gave the bell boy, they actually paid £9 each, times 3 = £27; that is £25 for the rooms and £2 that the bell boy kept for himself.

    so, no pound missing!

the men initially paid 30£, adn they got 3£ back , so they spent 27£ right?

the 3£ are with the men, and the 27£ they spent is with the manager(25£) and the bell boy(2£).

    25£(manager) + 2£(bellboy) +3£(boy returned to men) =30£

wait a minute... if you look at it this way...

So ( just using dollar sign cuz i dont have the euro sign on my computer) $30 bucks total

so he takes 2 dollars for tip which leaves 28 dollars.

Then he give back 1 dollar to each man

that leaves 25 dollars left as the hotel fee.

hm... but if the men got 1 dollar back each that means all together its 27 dollars.

hmm i dont get it but this is a good one Have a star!

its just the way you tell it its like an optical illusion but this is an oral illusion, they paid 25,got 3 back,25 + 3 = 28 and 2 tip = 30.if you say it another way like you did it's a mind boggler.excellent puzzel gets everyone freaked out

The trick is that in the story, one number is added when it should be subtracted.

    30 - 25 - 3 = 2 (The bellhop ends up with 2 pounds.)

The trick is that it leads us to believe that the room is £9 per person when in actual fact it is £25/3 = £8.33 per person.
