In No Country For Old Men, what was the point of the car crash??

At the very end?

My husband said it was because the character Chugar (sp?) will die, but that doesn't seem right.

I haven't read the book yet, btw.

The car crash mirrored everything else in the movie. While the coin gave the victims a choice, the crash was chance and Anton was the one without a choice, and could easily have died. The boys generosity mirrored the remorseless teens who Moss encountered on the bridge. It was a slap in the face for Anton, who believed that fate played the bigger role in life. While evil conquered good in the film, it's all a matter of chance, not fate. Carla Jean told Anton that HE made the choice...not the coin. Minutes later he was involved in a crash HE couldn't avoid.

the answer about the crash being a mirror about the events in the movie is a good answer. the movie is really good if you actually watch it and really listen to what people say in the movie. there is a bigger meaning to the movie than what youre watching.

Life is pointless. Or at least it doesn't follow our script plans.

Does it annoy you that in Pulp Fiction Travolta dies in a scene and then is alive in another scene 5 minutes later?

I sincerely don't understand how people came to like that movie so much. After the first ten or fifteen minutes I just gave up, so boring it was.

That whole movie was pointless! It never even explained who the bad guy was or what stake he had in the whole mess. Did you notice that you can remove lots of scenes from that movie without it making a difference?

i think it was just to reiterate what a badass chugar was. he had a freaking compound fracture and he just walks away. i mean, who does that? i loved it. pointless or not.
