wow, im not sure how well you will do, especially since you spelled LITERACY wrong...
I have the test as well :(
You should do fine, my english teacher told me not to study.
but heres some tips
you know you will have to complete
1. multiple choice
the examples from the booklet are killer but the test ones aren't so bad
2. Academic Essay (5 paragraph essay, but if you make it a 3 paragraph essay apparently you still get marked)
Make sure you NEVER use "I"
it should look some like this
point 1 (2nds strongest argument)
point 2 (weakest argument)
point 3 (strongest argument)
conclusion restating main points
after stating each point make sure you try to explain it with about 3 proofs if possible
3. Academic Paragraph
once again don't use "I"
Point 1 and elaboration
Point 2 and elaboration
Point 3 and elaboration
Restate thesis and points
4. Personal Response
Similar to the academic paragraph, but you can use "I"
Structure is "more flexible"
however you can use personal proofs/opinions
i'm not sure how strict they are on format but this is the general idea
4. paragraphs total, divided by indents (no spaces)
Byline (name and "postition")
Placeline (this one probably isn't needed but generally, right before ur first sentence, you would put "Mississauga- [Insert lead here]"
Lead - Interesting sentance captures attention. Include Who, What, Where
new paragraph When, Why
new paragraph elaborate on the 5W and How
new paragraph make up some interesting quotations
the first 2 paragraphs really depend, you don't nessecarily need to cover those exact "Ws"
5. I hope you can read.
yaa, so do not take everything I said and freak out please, that would be a prefered example but i know they may not be too strict on everything i said, so you may not nessecarily need to have EXACTLY 4 paragraphs in your newspaper article, as long as the content is there
Good luck everybody! I hope you enjoy the free cookies and juice! (that could be just our school)
and most of all dont worry, only 1 in 3 people fail.
