expectation 和 expecting 的差異 ?

Ex:

The reward fell short of my __________.

1. expectation

2. expecting

3. both of the above.

    the answer is 1. expectation

    expection 是期盼或期望 ( it's a noun名詞 )

    example: The result is below my expectation. (結果不如我預期.)

    expecting 是預計...可能發生(或來到) ( It's a transitive verb及物動詞)

    example: I have been expecting you. (我一直在等待你的到來.)

    The reward fell short of my expecting an averaged amount.

    Both of the above are fine with a subtle difference on the tone.

    expect is verb

    expecting is used when there is a preposition(介系詞)in front of this word

    the anwser with the "ex" is (1)

    expectation 是名詞

    expect 本身是動詞

    expecting 前面若加be動詞,那它就是當現在分詞用(形容詞)

    前面若是介系詞,就是變成 動詞+ing了
