The ADA seal of acceptance are awarded to certain chewing gums because they are clinically shown to help prevent cavities, reduce plaque acid and strengthen teeth.
Some examples of these chewing gums include: Orbit, Wrigley, Extra and Eclipse.
The part that you bite your tongue can happen to anyone if they partially or completely miss to bite the gum in their teeth, and bite their tongue instead. This is very common, especially when you are not paying attention when you chew.
Good luck!Source(s): Dental Student

I have never heard of ADA accepted extra gum. If its just the Extra Gum then its just gum.
I don't really think there are any cons to it.
Chewing ANY gum is good for your teeth because it keeps them slightly clean, ya know.
But other than that, I can't really think of any pros/cons besides what is already there
