"Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.

Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.

No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.

No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.

End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.

Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods. "

    Ron Paul on the issues.

This is not a problem that will be solved by politicians any time soon. Whether seeking the Latino vote as already mentioned, or seeking to keep cheap labor for their constituents, politicians are not motivated to keep illegals out.

What's really ironic is how so many don't realize that if the illegals were granted amnesty, they would then no longer be hireable for less than minimum wage with employers skipping the additional tax costs, unemployment insurance, etc. $3/hour dishwashing jobs would go up to $6/hour or more with additional costs. $5/hour manual labor jobs would go up to at least $9/hour. Mexicans are actually worth more than Americans for many jobs because of their work ethic. They are HARD workers and many will put you to shame if you work alongside them.

What then, would the business owners do who currently claim that they can't afford to hire American workers? What an interesting situation...

Bring our troops home and have them protect our own borders, Dr. Paul is the only one who will do this.

p.s MY European ancestors came here legally, did their service and worked hard. They didn't sponge off of the taxpayers, or sneak in. That is the difference between class and trash. Committing a criminal act is a fantastic way to start a new life *rolling eyes*

Obama" What we can do, is bring them out of the shadows by putting them on a pathway to citizenship. The proposal that is on the floor right now essentially says, "Look, you broke our laws, you've got to pay a penalty for that, you've got to pay a fine, you have to go to the back of the line, you have to go through ten steps over the course of eleven years, but if you do all those things, if you show that you are committed to being a US citizen, then in fact you can stay here, work, raise your families." People call that amnesty

so far there is only 1 real candidate and McCain beleives in th wall and enforcing the laws on the books. We just had a record breaking year in apprehensions, over 280,000. 200,000 more than in the Clinton era

If Hillary does become a candidate she might surprise us all. If they become legal immigrants than there will be no more illegal problem

Source(s): I knoe people that go to "the corner" to hire illegals and they wont even talk about work unless it is 10 an hour

non of them they all support some form of amnesty.if i were president id offer a bill to change the admendment that reads anyone born here is a citizen to anyone born here is a citizen of whatever country the birthmother is from.id close the borders and redeploy our national guard to guard them and only let those in who would be an asset to the country.we dont need anymore unskilled unschooled citizens.our population is over 300 million now and is estimated to be 1 million by2050 we dont have the jobs or natural resources to support that kind of growth in population.

It's too hot a issue right now. They will duck the issue hopefully we can pin them and our Congress people running in November to a real position.

Maybe about this time next year Congress will do something.

I completely agree with wolf. Couldn't have said it any better myself. Votes are their main priority. Hopefully someone will have the balls to step up and deal with it once the election is over.

This problem has no solution until the border is shut. The rest are only beautiful speeches

none of the THREE remaining candidates will solve the problem. At least we have the chance for better border security with McCain.
