Can I wire a evaporative cooler 1/2 hp 1 speed motor with the cord for a 2 speed motor?

I installed a new motor in my swamp cooler, unfortunetly, its a 1 speed and the old motor was a 2 speed. The wiring protocal is different. I need a high, low, and ground, but the electrical cord has a high, low, ground, and common. Any ideas on how to get this to work, or do I need to go buy a 2 speed motor?

if your electrical cord comes from a thermostat or relay your new motor won't run when the low circuit is called for. If your electrical cord comes from a manual switch you can get your one speed motor to work only on the high circuit using high, common, and ground.

Just use the High, Common, and ground.
