Go to Kyoto for a week (Kinkakuji Temple, Ginkakuji Temple, Tetsugaku no michi, Heian Shrine, Kyomizudera, Yasaka Shrine, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Arashiyama, Gion, Shijo Kawaramachi)
I've just come back from a 30 day trip to Japan and spent 5 days in Kyoto but could have easily spent seven! If you do decide to visit Kyoto book a room in Ks House Kyoto..it's really good value for money, really friendly staff and overall very comfortable and clean and close to kyoto tower. You can buy 500yen bus tickets which last all day, they are such good value.
Ok now i'll attempt the top 10 from my personal experience:
Gifu (Hida Takayama)
Wakayama (amazing beaches)
Universal Studios Japan, Osaka
Ah, this is too hard..everythings just so amazing in Japan to do it in order..they are all the same ranking at number 1!
I'd probably suggest you spend the first 7 days in Kyoto then to spend a few days in Osaka, where you can take trips to Kobe, Nara, Awajishima and Wakayama then if you have time you could head up to the beautiful Gifu then onto Tokyo..i've never actually been to Tokyo so can't really suggest anything from personal experience!
Either way i really hope you have a lovely trip..i live in the UK and am missing Japan so much now (i'm half japanese) I desperately want to go back! Have a great time! xoxox
