    I would add:

    Chet Atkins (Mr. Guitar) - 50s/60s (give me a break!)

    Paul Simon - - 60s/70s (under-rated player)

    James Taylor - 60s/70s (under-rated player)

    Johnny Winter - 60s/70s (tears it up)

    Mark Knopfler - 70s/80s/90s (can't believe he wasn't on it)

    Michael Bloomfield - 60s (terrific player - Dylan's lead then)

    Shawn Phillips - 60s/70s (terrific player - top secret)

    I would delete:

    Yngwie Malmsteen - 80s (don't care for scale - racing)

    Edit: Agree w/Silver Rose about Lindsey Buckingham - he sure could play (before he went into mid-life crisis).

    Source(s): Ears, personal opinion, experience, eclectic tastes.

    Joe Perry, Joe Walsh, Mike Rutherford, George Harrison, Alvin Lee, Steve Howe, Steve Lukather would be some great additions to the list.

    Glad to see Jeff Beck was mentioned. He is so often left out, and is an exceptional guitarist. If not mentioned would have been the 1st one I would have added.

    Otherwise a great list.

    Well, there are several on there {particularly from the 90's} that I have no knowledge of, but the are 2 big omissions :~

    Lindsey Buckingham {70's}

    Mark Knopfler {80's}

    I'm actually amazed to see that list includes Peter Green, as usually so many overlook him...

    Jimmy Page

    Dimebag Darrell

    Besides the two that Silver Rose Wolf mentioned where are these:

    Alvin Lee

    Steve Howe

    BB King

    Gary Moore

    Ronnie Montrose

    Very good list.

    It would be better having Steve Lukather and Joe Perry on the list.

    That's a pretty good list. I never thought of listing them by the decade.
