Mexico is part of North America. Geographically, North America and South America are separated by the southern mountains of Panama. Also considered the northern mountains of Columbia. The islands of the the Carribean are also part of North America.
Central America, doesn't actually exist, except as a segment of North America. Canada is geographically, the largest land area of North America. The United States is population-wise the largest portion, Mexico has the greatest north to south length of North America. The 7 countries of Central America are the tropical portion of the continent. Even Greenland is considered part of North America, although, like the Carribean islands, it's an island off the coast of the Continent.

North America
You could say Central America, but it is not a continent like the middle east is not a continent.
Mexico (IPA: /ˈmɛksɪkoʊ/) (Spanish: México (help·info) IPA: [ˈmexiko]), is a federal constitutional republic in North America. It is bounded on the north by the United States; on the south and west by the North Pacific Ocean; on the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and on the east by the Gulf of Mexico.
