I thought the most ridiculous thing he said though, or brilliant depending on how you look at it, was that they were planning attacks to derail HIS bid for the presidency.
Clearly, we all know 2 things.
If there is any sort of attack, it bolsters the GOP, because they are most adept at BRANDING themselves as the party of national security (although every piece of evidence proves contrary).
And, by issuing this statement he is subtly saying that Al-Qaeda fears a McCain presidency (although any one who is any intelligence knows that they prefer a guy like McCain who will only raise support for Al-Qaeda through his policies of wrecking the Middle East and raving it with more violence)
I find it ridiculous he said it, but unfortunately I have to admite it was a deft political move.
