I think the main reason their are many black athletes, and they do well, simply comes down to drive. Many of them come from poor neighborhoods, and sports are seen as a way out, so they have that drove and determination, and in most cases even after making it, that drive sticks with them. As far as background, or the active nature of their ancestors I don't believe that, as many countries still live in the same manner as some of those in Africa, and if this were to be true, those of Indian descent would have the same advantage. As it may seem color plays a lead factor I think it's much simpler than that. we have all heard the stereo type that black men are bigger, which anyone who has been in a school gym locker room can debunk (not true). As far as darker skin or (more melanin) making you smarter, this is not true, as Chinese and Indians are some of the smartest people in the world, due to their culture, intense schooling and drive, having no correlation with color.
