What do you think i should buy PS3 or X-Box 360 and why?

If you can afford the extra go for the PS3.
The 360's Xenos is advanced than the PS3's RSX. Rather than having seperate pixel and vertex shaders the Xenos has a unified pipeline, that means that each of the 48 shaders can do either pixel or vertex operations. This means that generally the Xenons can be pushed to the max, with all 48 shaders busy, rather than on the PS3 where some of its fixed shaders are likely to be unused.
The PS3 was designed for the SPE's to supplement graphical processing though, so the PS3 is capable of producing better graphics than the Xbox.
Blu-ray beats DVD9 hands down, in every respect it is faster* and much larger. Larger means bigger games, and better graphics (most games graphic is pre-render and just assembled by the console (with some effects added), more space means better graphics). The PS3's all come with a hard drive, so games can cache data for faster reading.
* Technically there are parts of DVD9 that read faster than the blu-ray (blu-ray reads the same speed throughout the whole disk, DVD9 is faster on the outer edge)
The 360 has 3 PPC cores, with SIMD (single instruction multiple data) extensions (each Core can process as either a CPU or a Vector processor). The Cell has one PPC core and six SIMD processors. Vector processors are very good at doing computations, or the same operation on multiple bits of data at the same time. This is the ideal kind of processor for graphics, physics or sound (in fact the GPU is a prime example of a specialised SIMD processor) which is exactly the kind of thing a games console spends most of its time doing.
The problem is that SIMD processors require the programmer optimise their code in a certain way. This requires different thinking and experience.
The 360 has a much larger catalog than the PS3, and some pretty good exclusives. Early dual releases look or ran much better on the 360 as developers produced lazy PS3 ports. Recent releases like Assassins Creed and Call of Duty 4 look and play the same on both Consoles.
There is a growing catalog of exclusive releases for the PS3, taking advantage of the cell and blu-ray to produce games that are simply not possible on the 360.
Both Consoles have the same amount of memory, though it is configured diferrently, there are plus's and minus's to both configurations. You will often see a figure quoted on bandwidth with the 360 having 256GPS, it does for all of 10MB. The effective bandwidth is similar on both Consoles.
For most people whose online experience consists of matchmaking for multiplayer the services are essentially the same. Xbox live has more additional functionality than PS3, but then it costs $50/year rather than being free.
The PS3 failure rate is quoted at between 0.5-2%, the 360 has failure rates of between 16-33%.
The PS3 has built in wireless and you can watch blu-ray movies and DVD's without requiring additional purchases.
The 360 is cheaper, but in the case of 360 vs PS3, you get what you pay for.

PS3 as its actually future proof. The Xbox 360 has a HD-DVD player now which is about as good as beta max was, which was useless. Microsoft also dropped the price in the UK today buy £50, wonder why?? There worried that the PS3 is out selling them, which in the first three months of this year this seems to be likely. Yea so the Xbox 360 has got Halo 3, but one game out off them all, why buy a xbox just to play Halo. PS3 has a few exclusives coming out for it. Blue-Ray is the way to go now and in the future, and these discs can hold 50GB off gaming space where the Xbox can only hold 20-25Gb of space. So for GTA4 the Xbox will need to Discs just to play it. Microsoft have even said that the Xbox 360 is full off problems and it has a 33% failure rate compared to 0.2% of the PS3. The playstation has been around alot longer than the Xbox so i think Sony knows what their doing.

It all depends on what your gonna use it for. Just gameplaying only, then it's gonna come down to which system has the exclusives that will make you want to choose one over the other. Graphics are comparibly the same. Only difference is small detail like shading areas.
The PS3 stands out because it's also a blu-ray player, free online play, and cheaper upgradable memory. The 360 is swappable but only with the Microsoft drive they sell. Only 20 or 120gig is available. The PS3 also has built in WiFi. If you want this for the 360 you have to buy an additional adapter for $100.
There are also other differences between the two, but like I said, it depends on what your main purpose of owning either one of these is.

Do you like watching movies? And have a HD tv? Then get the PS3.
If you like Halo, get the Xbox.
These are pretty much the only reasons for either game console.
If I had money for one, i'd get the PS3 cause of the HD/BluRay, and you still get all the sweet games, Call Of Duty4, guitar hero 3, assassins creed, etc. The only one you don't get is Halo.
Plus online gaming is free with PS3! no $60 a year for Live.
The PS3 may look more expensive, but compare all the extras that are included with it compard to the 360. HD player, wifi internet, free internet play, etc. Check out the details, there is more.

1st of all, i would like you to check the xbox section and see how much questions are being asked about some broken 360. out of the 3 nex gen. consoles, 16% of all 360 made has some fault, 5% for wii, and 3% for the ps3. if you dont belive me check yahoo news. (get a ps3)
a 360 may be chepper, but that cheapness makes it a peice of crap. most of the stuff that u need comes seperate, it stills support hddvd, no blu ray(rip hddvd). if you want a decent 360, you will have to dress it up like frankenstein.
and i wonder why people reffer to the ps3s as supercomputers and the 360 as crap? because it is!
check yahoo news
the ps3 has rumble and motion sensing controls(360 dosn't)
it games games are on blu ray(50gb) compared to the 360's dvd(7gb). this allows it to store more content, and they are working on a 260gb blu ray disk. that is more than my hard drive!! the ps3 1st gne games has the same graphics as the 360's 2nd generation games. what are the ps3's 2nd gneration games going to look like? :)
The playstation network is growing by the second, unlike the stagnant xbox live. plus it is free.
in the world economy, the ps3 sales have passed the 360s, and the 360 was out a year earlier.
i could give you a lot more reasons why the ps3 is better than the 360 but that's too much typing

I have both, and I would say the PS3 is the better buy because you get more for your money. You get the blu-ray player which is like $600 on its own, plus great graphics on the games, and you can still connect to the internet and download games and movies like you can with the XBox 360.
