Why do large flat screen monitors not have a DVI input??

I was recently looking for a new monitor and noticed when you get above 24'' or so, all the monitors have an HDMI input but no DVI input. Do they make a DVI to HDMI adapter?

    Check again.

HDMI is DVI-D, single link + HDCP encryption.

This means that DVI-D to HDMI cables and adapters are readily available.

But it also means that once you get above the single link bandwidth limit - 1600 by 1200 (full frame) or 1920 by 1200 (widescreen) then HDMI is not capable of carying the signal.

The higher resolution monitors have to use a (dual link) DVI connector.

Yes. Here is an example:http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI%20DVI%20adapter.htm If you're in the States, you may want to check Radio Shack. A bit more pricey, maybe, but you'll have it quick.
