I do not find this offensive. The picture does not contain any graphic material, or offensive words. It is merely a representation of someone's empty feelings, or their perception of another's emptiness.
If, however, the picture contained a depiction of someone urinating on the man in the chair, I would find THAT offensive. Such "art" is common from athiests, towards Christians! No matter who it is pointed at, it is still wrong. -
This picture isn't offensive. If you look at the artist's comment,
he/she says that she's not expressing a belief about whether atheism is wrong or right. She's only saying that atheism is a depressing thought, that there's nothing else out there, and that humankind is alone in the world. If you can't handle looking at a picture like that, you need to stay off of deviantart. -
When I was in the 8th grade I had alot of behavioral problems that necessitated the need for me to see a psychiatrist.
When they came to my school, they put me in a room and asked me to draw a picture of the front of my house.
I hesitated at first, because I couldn't see what, if anything, a simple drawing was going to reveal about the nature of my "deviant behaviour". So, I decided to indulge their fancy and drew the picture.
Several days later, they came back with my drawing and their "professional" analysis of it. They asked me to look real hard at my drawing and tell them if anything was amiss.
I couldn't see what it was I was supposed to be seeing, so I asked them, "What am I not seeing that I should be?"
They said, "Where are the windows and front door?"
I stared at the picture in silence for a long time, Sure enough, there were no windows and no door.
I asked what this could possibly mean. They told me I was behaving the way I was because I felt trapped with no escape; no exit.
Oh, by the way - I was a believer then, and still am today. -
The artist is wrong.
Atheists do not believe in "nothing." They believe in humanity. They believe in the power of reason and logic and the possibilities of life here on earth. That is not nothing.
Also, not all atheists are black. That part is a little offensive, I guess.... If I was capable of being offended, which I am not. -
Wow, that's not a very good illustration. I'm Atheist, but I'm not offended at all. Nothing really offends me at all. On the other hand, I can offend multitudes of people just by saying that Jesus was a poor, smelly, nonwhite, crazy man who was forming a cult. Cheers.

I don't find it offensive in the least.
It's just more ignorant fundie propaganda trying to understand something that's beyond them.
They don't actually know that people who do NOT believe, in all that childish invisible man in the sky silliness, could be happy.
They are thoroughly convinced that only those who live in abject FEAR of their imaginary friend could be happy.
Yeah; I know it makes no sense but THAT is the point.
People who live in FEAR can not love - how sad is that?

I think it's very offensive. I'm not an atheist, but I still think it's awful the way they make atheism seem like your wrong and will never get any where in life.
-
Are you talking about the picture? If that offends you, you may want to leave this site now, plenty of terrible people will paint a much darker picture of the atheist afterlife. (as if they could know)
-
I find it kind of offensive, but it is no big deal, atheists publish there own jokes about religion too. All is fair in religion and war.
-
It is not offensive, it is unreal hes not alone look around there everywhere dont tell anyone but some of them a dabbleing in religion.
-
I don't find the art or the description offensive. If I cared, it would be laughable.
-
I don't find it to be offensive. I do find it to be stupid. If I were to take offense at all the stupidity in the world, I would never get anything done.
-
Doesn't bother me a bit. In fact, it underscores the hateful nature of many believers.
Sad this person has to waste their life on such negativity. -
Yes. It speaks of how much (or little thereof) theists know about atheists and what it means to be atheist. They will never know mental freedom.
-
So far, yes. I see no problem with an expression of how someone perceives an issue.
-
So you were searching the word "atheist" on deviant art and now your offended.
-
If that's the most offensive image you can find on dA, you must have only joined recently.
