What do Harry Belafonte, Sean Penn, Danny Glover, et al think of Hugo Chavez preparing to invade Colombia?
It seems that the socialist utopia is going to end in a bloodbath: Venezuela and Ecuador toppling the government to enslave the Colombians under the umbrella of socialism/communism. It's all just a little bit of history repeating.
Lillian ~ Lol! Perhaps Hollywood is looking to monopolize the cocaine industry since all their anti-war/anti-American movies have bombed.
some polisci major ~ You have underscored the core principle of leftist belief: Better to live on your knees than to die on your feet.

Colombia will destroy Venezuela...the Colombian Military has been fighting a war with the FARC and the Paramilitaries in their Country for over 40 years...so their Soldiers are already Combat Hard...the Colombians have American weapons and training...Chavez on the other hand has second hand Russian Weapons, the last Combat any Venezuelan Soldiers has seen was in Chavez's failed coup attempt in 92...so that shows how good "COL" Chavez was and is with Military Tactics...Chavez is too stupid and paranoid to let anyone but himself run the War, which will piss his Military Leaders off...Colombia attacked a terrorist organization one mile inside Ecuador...what has happened is Chavez is buddies with the FARC and was friends with Reyes, so Chavez is mad because Colombia killed his friend, which Colombia had the right to do since this man is responsible for the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of Colombians and they are now hold a few hundred prisoners, to include three Americans...the US will stand beside Colombia...there are already American Soldiers in Colombia, but the US will help with air support if needed...out A10's will make short work of Hugo's 200 old Russian tanks...the "Socialist Utopia' in Venezuela is failing....they are already running out of food and supplies...it is only a matter of time before Chavez has a bullet between his eyes...especailly now since the Colombians have found out that Chavez gave the FARC 300 Million Dollars of their money...and by the way giving money and support to a Terrorist Organization is against International Law...Ecuador will let Chavez make the first move since Colombia's Millitary is twice the size of both of their armies put together...after Chavez is put down, if their is a war, Ecuador will bow out without a fight...this is just Chavez trying to get headlines, and if the documents on Reyes' laptop are real...Venezuela is about to go through some real hard times...you have to remember most of the complaining are coming from the Leftist Leaders...
EDIT: POLICY MAJOR: you need to have your degree revolked...there are no death squads in Colombia except of the FARC (Chavez's Buddies) and a small group of Paramilitaries...have you ever been to Colombia? I have and what you read on your far left websties are not true...if you were my student, I would fail you...Source(s): Holds Degree in History and Political Science...wife is Colombian

You and most of the answers here don't seem to have a clue of what is really happening down here. (Yes, I live in Colombia)
Venezuela and Ecuador are providing safe haven to terrorists.
The people of these two counties will NEVER go to war with Colombia.
1: They see no need to. The people of Venezuela have effectively told Chavez that he is alone in this idiocy. Venezuela depends on Colombia for most of its staple foods.
You don't bite the hand that feeds you, do you?
2. They know they will get there 'cojones' handed to them in an 'arepa' if the try to invade Colombia..
Colombia has a very tough, battle- hardened armed force, and is twice as big as the combined forces of Ecuador and Venezuela.
3. Hugo Chavez is pulling a 'Bush' on his countrymen. Sabre-rattling and empty rhetoric to hide serious internal problems, and this halfwit has shot himself in the foot so many times he is surely bleeding to death.
Prediction: A coup d'etat is on the books in Venezuela.
While Chavez is supplying terrorist forces with arms, and all his buddies with free oil, his people are starving.
(Buddies= Cuba, Nicaruaga, Bolivia, etc)
The end of this loudmouth lout is near!

Tom B. Colombia launched an attack against rebels in ECUADOR not into Venezuela.
Shockingly it is coming out that the rebels against the Colombian are getting and have been getting support from chavez.
I support Colombia for taking action to protect itself against this state sponsored terrorism.
The people you mentioned will support chavez before they support the United States. Sad fact.

Colombia would kick the holy snot out of Venezuela if they chose to invade. Colombia's armed forces are much larger than Venezuela's and they have decades of combat experience.
Some polisci major is another uninformed individual who has never been to Colombia and should go back to reading his quaint little socialist leaflets.
Centrists and Conservatives have not condemned the incursion. I have many many contacts in the Colombian business community that make up the Centrists and Conservatives that were mentioned and NONE of them have condemned the incursion.Source(s): 20+ trips to Colombia. Investor in Colombia. Friends and family in Colombia. Friends and family in Colombian armed forces, from foot soldiers through generals.

Actually, it was Colombia that invaded Ecuador first so Chavez's deployment of troops along the border are a defensive measure given that the Colombian gov't has accused him and Ecuadorean leader Correa of ties to rebels, which have not been proven, and is hinting at invading Venezuela because of unsubstantiated reports of FARC rebels seeking refuge in that country.
Mr. Uribe didn't have a problem with Chavez, Correa, and the French gov't negotiating with FARC rebels for hostage releases initially. It wasn't until his American backers in the Bush White House urged him to keep Chavez from exerting his influence in the region. Thus, this has little do with Colombia "defending itself" and more to do with politics. The US didn't take too kindly Chavez trying to accomplish what the Colombian gov't has not been able to do for the past four decades. Even centrists and conservatives across Latin America have publicly denounced Colombia's incursion.
***By the way, rightwing paramilitary groups, who have ties to the government, have also profitted from the drug trade. It seems someone else needs to have their degree revoked.***

I hope all the leftie Hollywied buddies of El Hugo are visiting Caracas when the bombs start falling!
BTW...who is the idiot that insists that Columbia attacked Venezuela?????
Hugo was supporting a small leftist group of Columbian drug-dealing Revolutioaries that got chased out of Columbia and were hiding in Equador.
The Columbians went ahead a chased them down and killed them...right after (documents found on the dead lefties laptop) indicate that El Hugo gave them $300 million for arms and mischief! Thats what got Hugo pissed and now he's threatening war...sore loser!

The Colombians did take military action inside the country of Ecuador.
Thats a fact and should be addressed.
The rest of it can summed up by listening to Hu-blow Chavez's sabre-rattling comments. Chavez wants war. He has since he took office, he wants total power and since he didn't win that war at the elections, he is going to take it to a traditional war.....he'll have total power if his country is involved in war.
Chavez is not somebody I would welcome to my dinner table, hell I would kick him out of my dog's house.
This is one of Chavez's statements regarding Colombia "We aren't interested in Colombian investments here," Chavez said, standing beside Correa. "Of the Colombian businesses that are here in Venezuela, we could nationalize some."
And there you have it, its been his entire M.O. since becoming the leader of Venezuela. He wants total power, which is why he has been 100 times mroe vocal about this than the leader of Ecuador......and nobody even stepped foot in Venezuela.
He is a war mongerer.

Robert Kennedy was assassinated by a certain person with a certain agenda and apparently this country just ignored it. The left is great at ignoring problems but let Chavez have a problem and HE is justified to take action. Let's be consistent somewhere people.

To answer your question;
They are probably for the invasion of Colombia. I am sure they are booking flights to Venezuela even as we speak, Those Anti-Americans would not pass up a good photo op with their friend Chavez in his time of need of support.

Colombia has a larger military. However, Chavez has Soviet weaponry.
