    answer: A wolf

Monks described the Vikings as sea-wolves and had a prayer about them.

"Lord, protect us from the fury of the Northmen."

Hmmm, Germanic Folkway, I'd have to say for the Aesir, we'd be looking at the Wolf. For the Vanir, definately the Cat, although not the typical domesticated variety, I'd go with something like a Lynx.

I'm Jewish. If Judaism were a dog, then it would be the Alaskan malamute. It's an ancient and essentially gentle breed, but can still fight if provoked, capable of hard work, but still willing to keep going even under the harshest of conditions to serve its Master.

    Shalom :-)

Mixed breeds are always friendlier and healthier. Plus, I make sure I have a female dog.

So, of course it would be some syncretic faith based on the Dog Star.

    Heh.

It would be a funny-looking mutt from the pound. You can make out one or two specific breeds, but it looks like there's at least a dozen more in there, and nobody can tell exactly which breeds contributed which traits.

It would be one of those "invisible dogs" on a lead... little children believe in it, but anyone with common sense knows it is not really there.

Or a golden retriever, because they are big, fluffy, and cute.

I have a Shepard, that is what I would say.

He is protetcive, keeps me out of harms way (bears, snakes ect) loves with out having to be forced into it, always by my side when I am home, most of all, very loyal.

It would be like taking a walrus and trying to claim it was a dog.

Just like people who claim atheism is a religion.

I would have to go with wolf. The whole Odin thing.

    To add to Frau

"A furore Normannorum libera nos, Domine."

For those verse in latin *G*
