Some people think that students have to do their best in academic subjects and sports or arts are of second importance. Some others might feel that if students spend one more minute on non-academic matters that means they lose one minute to study better. that doing things too much is addiction, no matter studying or doing sports. To me, I thinkTherefore, I only agree that we have to strike a balance between them.
doing sports can help refresh body & mind;
studying without physical exercise has adverse effects on studies
smart students can handle studies & sports well;
some band 1 secondary schools in HK even allow talented students to quit lessons temporarily for better training and participation in sports activities
doing well in sports can improve students' self-confidence, &
give honours to both students & the school
If someone is good at sports but relatively poor in most academic subjects he / she should develop his/her potential in sports instead of "wasting" time on "failing" academic subjects. Also, sports can be something academic too. You may do a degree in sports in certain universities.
We should not investing too much time in sports, but that does not mean that we should not exercise and only study all day. We need a well-balanced life.
