What experience are needed to be president of the U.S.?
People are criticizing Barack Obama for not having enough experience to be president, but what qualifies someone to be president? George W. Bush had "experience" but he sure wasn't qualified to run the nation, and there have been other leaders who had "experience" but failed to lead. Like D. Wright Eisenhower, he was a great military leader but not a great president. MLK was able to bring people together without much political experience. Is it more important to have experience in politics or the ability to bring a nation together and lead?

The President does not do his job alone. He has at his disposal armies of qualified and experienced people to call upon. He just needs to be able to pick the best people and the ability to become everyone's President.

In the modern era it has become more about the ability to raise money and less about actual experience. I think few candidates come in prepared and most get the experience on the job. That is why so many age rapidly during their reigns. In many ways the position itself is becoming more of a figurehead.

Trying to get things done in US Govt. is a lot like trying to get things done in a lunatic asylum so when they say Obama isn't experienced enough they say he won't know how to run the lunatic asylum. Which if he wins he probably won't but that doesn't mean he isn't a smart guy he just not "experienced enough" to run the asylum. Only an experienced lunatic like Hillary can do that.

Constitutionally you need only to be:
1. A naturally born citizen of the US
2. At least 37 years of age
3. A high School graduate.

i think a good amount. the thing for me though is that Barack has not even served a whole term in the senate yet and he also has a bad voting record. people should really look into that because no news programs will cover that except fox news.

if you legally get elected, that's all that is required.
your rant about President Bush is showing.

In the requisites it doesn't say anything about experience.
