Its not a case of physical size of ones military, its a case of PROJECTION of that military POWER.

The Red Chinese may have a crap-load of short and medium range aircraft and coastal sea craft but can they work all seven seas at the same time with support systems in place? No.

Can the N. Koreans? Certainly Not. They would be afraid that entire ships crews would defect because their military may be their elite, but they are still starving. They may have nukes but they have a drastically finite resource set for weapons delivery.

The US can and does routinely operate globally.

As do the Brits, (God forbid) the French and even the Russians (though their mission scope had diminished since the fall of the Soviet Union).

I know that this was a quickly typed query... but can you please proof read before submitting your questions?

Air Force is two words (I take that personally since I was an Airman, once upon a time).

Navy should be capitalized (I don't even like squids - LOL)

    Be more specific.

Are we talking NUMBERS of personnel? Technology? Do you include militia (actual ones, not like in the US where it's a bunch of guys with lots of guns) and reserves?

Technology-wise, and over all probably the USA. The US spends 623 Billion dollars a year on the military infrastructure. Compared to the ENTIRE European Union which spends 266 Billion.

The 5 largest armies in the world (all branches of the military, reserves, and paramilitary) are:

    1) Pakistan 12.4 Million troops

    2) Iran 12.2 Million troops

    3) India 12 Million

    4) Vietnam 9.5 million

    5) People's Republic of China 7 Million

If you're going by active troops, and not counting paramilitary and reserves:

    1) People's Republic of China 2.2 Million

    2) USA 1.38 Million

    3) India 1.32 Million

    4) Russia 1.2 Million

    5) North Korea 1.1 Million

China and N. Korea both have larger armies than we do, but as far as actual power, the US has the most technolgical air force, most advanced army and navy, and the deadliest Marines.

If you are talking about power in terms of numbers it would be China with the US pretty far down the list. If you are talking about total available destructive power it would be the US with no one else even close, hence the term "sole super power." The US is in a category all by itself and we pay dearly for that title.

The US hands down. We are deadliest most lethal force to be ****** with. Sometime we cannot unleash all that power because of the Geneva Convention.

As a US military service member of 23 years and still counting, I'll state quite clearly the answer is ours.

USA. No doubts about it. Russia may try that bomber crap to look tough, but in a real scenario, we win ten out of ten times.
