Do You Know Who Dennis Muren Is?

And what he's famous for?

If you do know as opposed to browsing wilkipedia then that would be very beneficial. The reason I ask this is to see how many people do actually know of him/have heard of him.

Update:

And yes I have posted this question in the movies category as a pointer because I'm a nice King like that :)

Update 2:

Thank you all for answering, I already knew the answer but because Dennis Muren is such a highly skilled expert I just wondered who else knew of his work that has become ICONIC scenes in cinematic history.

Update 3:

And Shortytee4: You're correct he is the only special effects artist with a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, and one of the only reasons why I went to the walk of fame back in 2002 (its actually outside the Guiness World Records) and I took a number of pictures http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k155/Richard_027... this is also my current avatar picture :)

Here's just a little bit of information about Dennis Muren for you:

Is the only special effects artist with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Stars

Muren handled the flying-bicycle effects in _E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)_.

Muren worked early on as a camera operator and effects supervisor for educational films and Pillsbury and Green Giant commercials.

His parents advised him to major in business at Pasadena City College and California State University at Los Angeles, where he received an A.A. degree. But in his first year in college, Muren created a 16-millimeter science fiction film, "The Equinox." The movie was picked up by a distributor, who added 40 minutes to it, blew it up to 35-millimeter, and released it; Muren made back his $8,000 investment, and the movie is now known as Equinox (1970).

His parents, Elmer Ernest Muren and Charline Louise Muren, gave him his first camera, a $10 Keystone eight-millimeter, when he was 10. He practiced making movies with his friend Rick Baker.

Dennis Muren works for George Lucas at Industrial Light and Magic. He is the Director of Special Visual Effects. He may be even higher than that by now. He has several academy awards already, and is a great asset to George. He has been with Lucas since the beginning. He's a very nice guy, and mild mannered.
