Sound editing is the art of recording sound effects, creating certain sounds, and background music, things like that. sound mixing is when you take all those elements plus the dialog onto a mixing board and actually create the volumes and the pans (left or right or surround, ect.) that will appear in the final cut.Source(s): college music and mixing classes
