Find ||v|| for each question below. I want you to explain what to do NOT just simply provide answers.
(1) v = -5i + 12j
(2) v = - i - j

IIvII is the magnitude of a vector.
1) v = -5i +12j - Disregard the i and j and focus on the numbers.
therefore v = -5 + 12.
to work out the magnitude you need to square (-5) and 12, add them together and then take the square root.
v = sqroot ((-5)sq + (12)sq)
v = sqroot (25 + 144)
v = sqroot (169)
v = 13
