I had my gallbladder removed two weeks ago due to a gallstone.....I had a few quite bad attacks and was told by a few people who suffered attacks that "buscopan" helped relieve pain. I never tried this as I had my g/bladder removed after this was suggested to me but my brother and Aunty swear by this over the counter drug......it's a small pill which you just take when you start to feel the attack coming on (ie when you feel 'that twinge')
Other than that avoid fatty foods, dairy products, spicy foods or anything else that could start an attack. Stick with bland small portions.
If you do get another attack head straight to the ER who can give you pain relief or else remove your g/bladder as an emergency (which saves you waiting al the way to Sept!) - also try and see another doctor/specialist who may be able to do the procedure faster. Once I had seen my specailist I only had to wait four days (saw him Thurs and was in hospital Tues)
Good luck with it, the pain of the operation is far less than any attack I ever had so hang in there, the light at the end of the tunnel is visible.
Been there and done all that - got the gallstone as a trophy!!!
