Checks should be cut in May.

From what I understand, it's based on 2007 tax returns. AGI must be at least $3K, and after $75K ($150K for couples) the amount of rebate starts dropping.

Singles to get $600, couples to get $1200, plus $300 per dependent 17 or younger.

Disabled veterans and some senior citizens also to receive checks, but I'm not sure on those formulae.

It is a rebate on taxes paid in the 2007 fiscal year. It is going to those who paid taxes last year. Between $300 and $600 for single people and double that for married couples. A short term economic boost. Won't fix it, but every little bit of my own money I get to keep is a good thing.
