1. All the good music is left to the underground and the only music people care about is the dumbed down mainstream garbage. 2. Production is becoming way too universalized. I feel like a lot of beats nowadays sound very similar, whereas back in the day different producers had their different sounds and it was very noticeable. 3. Downloading has ruined the motivation to make a good ALBUM. It's all about who can have a couple hot singles that play on the radio all year long, rather than focusing on creating an entire work of art. 4. We have no rap icons at this point that came from this era. The 90's obviously had Nas (I know he's still out but I mean he started then), Biggie, Pac, etc..... Now we have what? Lil' Wayne? 5. An album is considered very good if at least half of it is good. It used to be necessary to make a complete album, and even an album like "Life After Death" was criticized for having filler. Nowadays that album would be a classic compared to what else is coming out because the standards are so much lower.
