Name for a character (girl)?

Ok.

here we go.

She's 15 years old.

Red hair (not that burnt out red, but like a Auburn chesnut red, cinnimonish)

and green eyes

She has a stutter when she's nervous.

Her mom kinda resents herand she tries really hard to impress her, but it never works. she is the oldest of 4.

Thank you a ton ton ton for any and all input!!!!!!!

Update:

I'm so sorry!

  • Hmmmm 1870 you say...

    and a Redhead....Here's what i think fits.

    Charlotte

    Anne, Anna or Annabelle

    Rebecca

    Grace

    Autumn

    Madelyn

    Catherine...nickname: Cat

Emma or Emily...though more of a blond 19th century name

    Lucy, Lucille

    Sadie

    Lily, Lillian

    Abby

    Rosemary

    Gretchen

    Abigail

    Judith

In the 19th century, female names were plain and conservative. I suggested all of these names assuming you meant the 1870s in America. I invisioned a plain, introverted girl with a secret of some sort.

Girl's names in the 1870's were fairly simple and straightforward. Elizabeth, Faith, Prudence, Amy, Felicity, Ann, Margaret, Kathleen, and Charity are examples of names that would fit the time period. No one from that time period would have a "trendy" name like Sharleen, Britanee or Krystal.

Are you just looking for a simple girl's name or are you looking for a name that tells people a bit about her. If you just want a girl's name, try looking in a book of names (which often includes their meanings; this may help) for inspiration. That's a good description but if you're looking for a name to help give people a clue to who she is, it's not necessarily enough to inspire a name. Try flushing out the character a bit more.

Edit: since it takes place in the 1870s, eliminate Jordyn, Peri, Natalie, and Chelsea and Carly are iffy. Unless her real name is Carlotta or something! xD

    Some good redhead names:

    Chelsea

    Carly

    Jordyn

    Natalie

    Liza

    Peri

    Ella

    Anna

    Alice

    Good last names:

    Lebby

    Frank

    Fritz

    Martin

    Nelson

    O'Connor

    Hurley

    Boland

    Rein

    Kelly

    Green

    Anna, Rosy, Lucy, Sally

It depends on what country it's set in!

Her description makes her sound like a stereotypical irish person! If she is names like Rosy, Mairin, Niamh, Aoife, Roisin, Sorcha would be good!
