Recipe for homemade pizza?
Does anyone know of a really good recipe for a homemade pizza (the dough and all the toppings included)? I'm going to be having some people over and told them I would be making a pizza, I want to make it from scratch and see how it turns out. Anyone who cooks, do you know of a really good tasting recipe for a pizza?

Homemade Pizza Supreme
Even if you've never made pizza from scratch, I hope you'll try this recipe. it's the highlight of my favorite casual meal. You have to plan ahead to allow rising time for the dough, but it is easy to work with and the crust is so good.
PREP TIME 45 Min
COOK TIME 30 Min
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
2 cups warm water (110 degrees to 115 degrees)
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons grated onion
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
4 ounces Canadian bacon, diced (optional)
1 (3.25 ounce) package sliced pepperoni
1 medium red bell pepper, sliced
1 medium green pepper, sliced
1 (2.25 ounce) can sliced ripe olives, drained
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup minced fresh basil
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add oil, salt and 2 cups flour. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rest in a warm place for 10 minutes.
Combine sauce ingredients; set aside. Divide dough in half. On a floured surface, roll each portion into a 13-in. circle. Transfer to two greased 12-in. pizza pans; build up edges slightly. Bake at 375 degrees F for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Spread with sauce; sprinkle with toppings. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted

Buy some of the frozen bread dough at the store (Rhodes) and use enough for a 'small loaf' to make a large pizza dough. Slice some fresh garlic (about two 'cloves' from a bulb) and put it into a bit less than a quarter cup of olive oil and let it 'sit' for at least two hours at room temperature. Roll or 'throw' your dough to make the dough, and be sure there's a 'crust' around the edge. Use a brush to spread the olive oil onto the dough. Add 1 can of drained artichoke hearts, 1/2 a red pepper julienned (cut long and thin), two or three roma tomatoes sliced thin, and some mild Italian sausage ... you may also add some pepperoni, if you want. Add some grated skim milk mozarella and some feta (it's a Greek goat cheese) ... then add some baby spinach leaves on top and cook at 450 degrees until the crust is nicely brown ... which should be about 15-20 minutes. Serve with a small bowl of anchovies, and some Kalamata olives ... it's VERY YUMMY and it's also 'different' because it doesn't have the 'red sauce' most American pizzas have. My husband makes this for us, and it's THE BEST pizza EVER!

Believe it or not, buy the Chef Boyardee Cheese Pizza Box. You mix all of the dough yourself,(it's very easy.) You also add all of your own toppings. Make sure to get creative with the cheeses. Too much cheese never exists! Please do not overlook this! I make this all the time. It's practically homemade, and it's always a crowd pleaser. Also use olive oil with the crust and on the pan to help from sticking. It adds a nice crunch to the crust and flavor. Really, just try it! You'll be sooo glad you did! Our friends come over every week-end to get this pizza. It's awesome.

Making the Dough
Things You'll Need
1/2 Cup of warm water
2 tsps of active dry yeast
2 Cups of flour
3 tbsps. of olive oil plus extra to coat the dough
1 tsp. of salt
1 tsp. of sugar
Step OneDissolve the yeast in a small bowl with the warm water. Let the yeast sit in the bowl for about five minutes and stir to finish dissolving if it does not dissolve completely.
Step TwoCombine the flour, olive oil, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Step ThreeAdd water and yeast mixture to other ingredients in the mixing bowl. Use an electric mixer or a flat spoon to mix the ingredients. Mix until the dough begins to become thick. Add water if needed, but do it sparingly.
Step FourKnead the dough. Either use a kneading hook or other attachment with an electric mixer or place the dough on a floured work surface and knead by hand until dough is smooth and elastic.
Step FiveCoat another bowl with olive oil and place the dough into the bowl to coat it with olive oil. Cover the bowl and set aside to let the dough rise, which will take an hour or two. It should double in size. Let it set in a warm but not overly hot place.
Making the Sauce
Things You'll Need
½ Cup of chopped onion
2 tbsps. of minced garlic
1 Cup of chopped tomatoes
8 ozs. of tomato sauce
6 ozs. of tomato paste
Oregano, basil, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper, salt, pepper and any other spices to taste
Step OneSauté the onion and garlic in olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan until tender.
Step TwoBlend in tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step ThreeSprinkle in salt, pepper and other spices to add flavor. There are no strict rules about how much to use, just add enough so that it tastes good to you. This is what will cause people to compliment your culinary skills.
Making the Pizza
Things You'll Need
Homemade pizza dough
Homemade pizza sauce
1 to 2 Cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
Pizza toppings (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, etc.)
Step OnePreheat oven to 400 to 450 degrees.
Step TwoRemove the pizza dough from the bowl and place it on a floured work surface. Roll the dough in to a ball and begin to work it into a flat circle by pressing down on the middle and working the dough outward. Keep pressing it until it is ½ inch thick or to the desired diameter.
Step ThreeBrush the dough with olive oil and spoon on your pizza sauce. Use only as much sauce as you want for the pizza and save the rest. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce and add your toppings. Sprinkle some more cheese on top for an extra cheesy pizza.
Step FourPlace pizza on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and the crust is crisp and golden. Check the pizza often to make sure it doesn’t overcook or burn.
Tips & Warnings
Use other types of cheese for specialty type pizzas. For example, you can use cheddar or American cheese for a cheeseburger pizza.
Save your extra sauce and use it on spaghetti or other pasta.
Experiment. Never feel required to follow a recipe exactly. The fun of making pizza on your own instead of having it delivered is you can completely customize it.

Anybody can make pizza how about pizza bread. Start with the ingredients; pepperoni/ sauce/ sausage/ onions maybe some black olives and 8-16 ounces of the cheese of your choice Using a package of fresh dough that you can find in the deli section of your local grocery store, flour up your hands and the cutting board or other surface you plan to use to stretch your dough. I prefer to use both hands and slowly stretch it out in the air. With the dough as thin as you can get it lay it of a lightly oiled Teflon of air bake cookie sheet. Preheat your oven here to 350 degrees Start with your sauce as a base then use your imagination saving the cheese for last. Using both hands role one side over and overlap the other side pinching the edge to the underlying crust I check it every 15 minutes and role it over when it's ready. This should serve 4-6 people depending on their hunger

2 cans tomatoes, undrained and chopped
2 green peppers, chopped
2 onions, chopped
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/8 tsp. pepper
Combine and simmer over low heat 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Cook ground meat (1 1/2 pounds) with salt until no longer pink. Drain, spoon tomato mixture over crust. Add meat, olives, etc. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Add Mozzarella and Cheddar cheese. Bake 10 more minutes. Top with Parmesan.
CRUST FOR HOMEMADE PIZZA:
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. shortening
1/4 tsp. salt
1 pkg. yeast (fast acting)
3 to 6 c. flour
Mix all ingredients, divide in two and place in pizza pan. Cook for 10 minutes and remove and place sauce and cheese on top.
