Try the Inheritance series. The books are 'Eragon' and 'Eldest'. They're absolutely amazing, especially for a science fiction fan. They're fantasy-ish, but they also have a real story line with like, romance and stuff. like HP.

Also, the Pendragon series by DJ MacHale are amazing. I'm literally obsessed with these books!

The Sarah Dessen books are also really good. My two favorites are "The Truth About Forever" and "Just Listen". I've read all of them though, and they are really all good.

I also just read this book called "Story of a Girl" by Sara Zarr. She's a new author. It was a really good book to just sit down and have fun reading.

    Hope I helped!

Try out Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card - I swear J.K. Rowling stole the idea for Harry Potter from this book. It's also a series - Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide are my favorites. If you like Harry Potter, you'll love these!

Try the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. Begins with "Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment." They're good books.

Sue Monk Kidd is great. Read "the secret life of bees". And try "Out stealing horses" by Per Petterson.

Anna Gavalda is also strongly recommended. I've read "Hunting and gathering". It's great.
