I've scratched the glass on my watch. What's the best way to buff or polish it out?

If is is working Ok, the just use it. From time to time you see the advertisements for some things but they cost about $14.00 plus shipping and may or may not work. Depends on how deep it is, if not deep enough then some polishing cloth and the compound can do the trick. jeweler do not do that , there is a chance that pressure of doing this can make the scratch become a crack.

But you can try it gently few minute at a time daily till you are satisfied, a heavy cloth and fine talc, may buff it out use a drop of water to make hard paste, or try tooth paste just a touch on a heavy cloth.

If it is a good expensive watch then spent the money to replace it.

I don't know what your 30.00 equates to in dollars, but if close to $30, then I don't know anything that would be less expensive. That is, unless you have a dremel tool with polishing compound. You can power polish the scratch, then use a fabric buffing attachment to clean it up really well. What do you have to lose if the only alternative is to replace the glass.

Usually jewellers can't be bothered buffing a scratch out (they probably think it's not worth their while) plus it's probably alot easier to send it off and charging you £30!! Extortionate!!
If I were you I wouldn't try Duraglit or Brasso as they're abbrassives and could scratch the glass especially if it's made from plastic!

A scratch mark is like an etching. It leaves a groove on the surface. It probably costs more to have it fixed to factory finish standard. Like many others have already said, you either replace it or live with it.
Try all those DIY methods first. If you have made it mess of it, then you have no choice but to replace it.

The one sure way to do the job, is to get some jewellers rouge paste. This is the only product guaranteed to cure the scratch.
All the other well intentioned recommendations, are only going to give you more grief. A cheap way of doing it, is to use tooth -paste, or, it you can get it, tooth cleaning powder. Happy polishing!!!

Liquid Brasso on a cotton cloth, rub until the scratches disappear. I visited an aircraft factory years ago, and there were gallon drums of the stuff everywhere, I asked what they were for, and the reply was .......to clean plastic windshields of aircraft. If good enough for aircraft, then good enough for watch "glasses"

I work in construction and my watch gets scratched a lot. the best thing I found is to buff it out with my bench grinder using a buffing wheel. just be careful and not to buff it in one spot too long....

Try duraglit, brasso what ever its called its like cotton wool soaked in a solution it comes in a tin its really old fashioned you use for cleaning metals like brass etc it stinks, well it used to havent used it for years, I heard that this can get small scratches out of glass. I have never tried myself though.
They sell it in supermarkets near the polishes usually.

Use Brasso, the liquid variety. Apply with a soft cloth to avoid making further scratches. I have used it. It works.
