Everyone's basically nabbed everything but biological uses. Iron is used in hemoglobin as means of transporting oxygen. It is vital to our existence.

Because of its low cost and easy fabrication, iron (mostly as steel -- an alloy of iron and carbon) is the most widely used structural material in the world. Your car, your kitchen appliances, the frame that holds up your bed, the nails that hold your house together and the re-bar in the foundation, are all steel.

Powdered iron is often used in heat packs (small piece of gauze inserted in ski boots and gloves, etc). When the iron reacts with the air it starts to rust and as it rusts it gives off heat (iron usually takes a while to rust so to speed it up it's turned into powder). They can usually give off heat for about 6 hours.

Apart from vitamins (Ferro) irons can be used to play golf,to iron your clothes, for housing developments/constructions(iron won't break,) well,i think perhaps the actor Jeremy Irons knows better what to do with the material.
