    John Roberts--Irish-Czech-American, Catholic

    Antonin Scalia--Italian-American, Catholic

Anthony Kennedy--Irish-American, Veteran (Army National Guard), Catholic

    Stephen Breyer--Jewish

Samuel Alito--Italian-American, Catholic, Veteran (Army Reserve)

    Clarence Thomas--African American, Catholic

    Ruth Bader-Ginsburg--Jewish

    John Paul Stephens--Veteran (Navy)

Interestingly, only David Souter is a White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, and non-Veteran but that makes him a minority on the court.

Clarence Thomas who was appointed by George Bush the senior in 91. He is the second black supreme court justice.

He is the only current ethnic minority justice. I suppose if you count a woman as a minority then there is Ruth Bader Ginsburg who is the only woman justice now , since Sandra Day O'connor retired.

Clarence Thomas: he is the only black supreme court justice. He is also by far the most conservative on the court. I have the utmost respect for the man.
