I've always wondered what my dog food tastes like, and today I got brave and tried it. The kibble, which is Wellness brand for large breed dogs, was obviously dry and crunchy. At first it kind of didn't have much of a taste, but then it kind of had a little bit of a bitter taste maybe like dirt or dust. It wasn't the most horrible thing in the world, but I did have to wash it down with a drink of water. Then I got brave and tried his canned food, one which is Wellness brand lamb and beef stew. It has chunks of meat and carrots in it, looks good and smells ok. I tried one chunk, and it actually tasted like meat, and it had some flavor to it, not a bad texture, and although I don't plan on trading in my filet mignon, it was good. If I were going to eat it myself, I would have to heat it up first. Bottom line, if you're going to eat dog food, skip the dry stuff, and go for the canned stuff. Next time I have his canned venison, I'm going to try that. Stay tuned!
