Will history repeat itself?

Like the amnesty bill of 1986, the current proposals by most of our presidential hopefuls, would place those who have resided illegally in the United States on a path to citizenship, provided they meet a similar set of conditions and pay a fine and back taxes.

So here we are, 20 years later, having much the same debate and being offered much the same deal in exchange for promises largely dependent on the will of future Congresses and presidents.

Why can't we learn from the failed policies of the past.

What else are they to do if they can't break our spirited wills. They begin at our own bank accounts, and then complain that Americans don't save enough.

Really now... How are the Americans suppose to have the American dream, or save more than enough for their retirements if our Politicians are too busy having us pay for everyone else? That's the 60's peace loving, love everybody groupies for you!!

Let's try this repeat of history though. Obviously there were two sides to the story then. And they managed to resolve the problem.

Well, you could write about your older brother hating this assignment so history is repeating itself, but you will probably get a better grade if you look at the number of times the same people have been at war with each other, such as the two religions in Ireland or the Germans and the French. If you want something less well known, look at what happened in the Balkans down though the years ending most recently in the Bosnian-Serbian slaughter and the breaking up of Czechoslovakia where people don't even agree on what to call old slaughters.

Politics is the refined art of BACKSTABBING.

They have now and always will, do what's in THEIR own best interests at the cost of the American CITIZENS, which are only respected until...they cast their vote.

Citizens are disposable if they can recruit new ones from the Illegal immigrant population. What these candidates are disturbingly unaware of is that Mexico has never sent it's BEST or BRIGHTEST over our borders in the dead of night.

Obama, Clinton AND McCain are all on record as voting AGAINST making English our national language.

    Bottom line--

20 years later and the people in power are More ANTI-American than ever. How to kill the USA

Because our politicians no longer represent us, they will continue to make decisions that A) buy them votes, or B)make them points with international corporations that will buy votes for them. The two political parties pretend to be a war with each other but are really beer and golf buddies on the weekend after making war on the American people all week. Instead of a donkey and an elephant they might be more aptly represented by a single mascot: the two headed hog slurping out of the public trough in which it also defecates! It may be time for a revolution like the French one. Bring on the guillotine.

    Probably so.Why not?

''This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.’'(Ted Kennedy,1986)

Truth of the matter is: If the the illegals go away, Politicians will lose ...votes, Corporations will lose ...cheap labor.

Since the Corporations are buying off through lobbying efforts the politicians and supporting their election antics those are the Americans who GET in the USA.

The rest of us are just chopped liver.

Because we don't pay the "leaders" off in some way, they don't really care what we get. So they blow us off with lies, false promises and frequently apparently fraud.

What can we REALLY do about it? We believe their falsity and buy into them and they do what they do.

I guess that's what you mean. As far as this repeating itself, my personal concern is that if you keep "Water boarding" the victim long enough (history repeating itself) at some point ...the victim drowns or dies from exhaustion.

Because people in general despise learning and are poor students.

Therefore people continually repeat the mistakes of the past in some vain hope of success based on the cult of personality worship.

Because Govt. never learns anything. They just move on & hope the problem goes away or gets fixed on it's own.

Screw history when there is money to be made!

Do you really think that all (well, most) of our elected officials are pandering to the illegals out of the goodness of their hearts?

The whole issue stinks of massive corruption.
