Evolution is something you can witness in action. Spend a calendar year in the Galapegos and you'll begin to understand. Fiction is limited to literature. Fact is open to anyone willing to reveal it. Fact is practical. Fiction is limited, once again, to the imagination.

For these people that say that evolution is a fact, they are partially correct.

There are six types of evolution.

Cosmic evolution- the origin of time, space and matter. Big Bang.

Chemical evolution- the origin of higher elements from hydrogen.

Stellar and planetary evolution- Origin of stars and planets.

Organic evolution- Origin of life from inanimate matter.

    Macroevolution- Origin of major kinds.

Microevolution Variations within kinds- Only this one has been observed, the first five are religious. They are believed, by faith, even though there is no empirical evidence to prove them in any way.

I guess when we discuss evolution, we should be clear on which one we are talking about.

The only ones who think there is any controversy are the religious fundamentalists / literalists, and they aren't doing any real science of their own to back up their claims.

The questions being raised within the field are things like punctuated equilibrium vs. phylogenic gradualism, the origins of sexual reproduction, and so forth...not whether or not evolution actually happens. In fact, a biologist would stand to make a huge name for him/herself if he/she were to find actual, verifiable evidence that evolution doesn't exist, Nobel Prize and the like.

Oh, and you didn't post a link.

    Evolution is a fact.

When parents produce many children who are slightly different from their parents and from each other, and something in the population's environment kills off most of the children before they grow up, then you have necessary and sufficient conditions to observe evolution in action.

If some event causes the population to diverge, with some barrier preventing members of one group from mating with the other group, it is then possible that the two groups will eventually become so different from each other as not to be capable of cross-mating anymore -- even though they shared a common ancestor.

Which bit of the above are you disputing, exactly?

No book can alter reality. Biological evolution is a fact, fully supported by vast scientific evidence, and no argument can change that. Someone can write a book explaining all their reasons why the earth doesn't actually orbit the sun, but the evidence is still there, so no-one will be convinced.

Well, evolution sounds very nice and logical, not to mention fully supported with facts and evidence.....

Creationism....uhhhhh.....gAwD did it? Believe or burn in hell because the bible says so? And not a damn shred of proof in sight?
