how do you think will tata nano affect the sales of other small cars like maruti800? and what should MUL do??

TATA Motors has displayed its 1lac car NANO... n it is expected to hit the roads in dec '08

it is the cheapest four seater in the world ($2500) and aims at people who prefer four wheelers over two wheelers but face the price constraint

inspite of this i personally feel that TATA NANO will hit the sales of Maruti 800 in India... what are your views on it and why? also what should Maruti Udyog Ltd do to save its market share??

It is coming in october 2008.

MUL has already reduced the price of 800. The sale will definetly be affected.

MUL is launching its A star car very soon which will be in competition with the nano.

Lets see what happens when it launches.

The short answer - who cares?? We are getting a cheaper, better car than M 800.

Really, we, on a public forum, need not worry about what Maruti is going to do. If they want to stay in business, the options are varied. They can stop fleecing the Indian customers, reduce prices; launch a more realistically priced car, stop production of the low end hatch backs and concentrate entirely on high end hatchs - like Swift or sedans.
