Well there are more than two differences between Cognac and brandy (unless you mean what the differences are between the two beverages):
You always use capital C for Cognac because it is a region ( in France) and then became a brand name of sort. The French would say that Cognac, which is the brandy made in the Congac region, is the best in the world. If you believe that, you just have to pay more for Cognac brandy than any other brandy.
(The same story goes for Champaign, the bubbly wine made in the Champaign region in France. Italian areated wine is simply spumante.)
How many differences have i mentioned? You count your heart out yourself.
