what does”take order ” mean?

Take order can be used by waiters. However, what does "I had to take order from elder people" mean???

    I had to take order from elder people" means you have to respect elder people, so whatever they tell you to do, you should do it.

    It means that you had to "act as elders wish".

    e.g.

    Your father say that you have to complete your MBA study and you did even you prefer to be an musician. Moreover, your monther ask you to marry an ugly girl and you did even you don't love her. If you did just whatever elders said, you were taking orders from elder people.

    沒錯! 是尊重長輩的意思......補充一點, 這句子比較帶有當事人內心的想法與長輩的要求相違背的情況. 如果當事人想法與長輩同, 這句子就不會這麼用了.
