OMG no dont precook it, if its slightly frozen thats best.

your roast frozen is best for all day cooking

season as usual, cut up veggies if you want to go in with it add 1 can beef broth and turn on cooker for 6-8 hrs and let go and do your thing, the beef will cook wonderfully in its juices and when your ready to eat fall apart when you try to remove it from the slow cookre. I love that and its so juicy and yummy and very comforting. I also found a link with tons of them for you to try, have fun with it. And remember when you find one you love write it down.

At least you're realistic about the amount of preparation you're willing to do. Your local library probably has several cookbooks which contain nothing but slowcooker recipes, and other cookbooks with slowcooking sections. If your library doesn't have these books, ask the librarian for an interlibrary loan. My basic recipe is to put a large chunk of some sort of meat in the cooker, add a little liquid, and possibly add some minced dried onions. The minced dried onions can be found in the spice & seasoning section of the store, and they work very well in a slow cooker. I think that they taste better than fresh onions, and they are certainly much faster to use. The cheaper cuts of meat are actually better in a slow cooker than the more expensive ones. The cooker will give the cheap cuts time to break down over the long cooking period. So, use dark chicken meat, thighs or drumsticks, rather than breasts. Use a chuck or 7 blade roast, rather than round. Canned broth is great to put in a slow cooker, or use flavor base, mixing it with a little hot water. I like Better than Buillion flavor base, as it has a lot less sodium than buillion cubes. Wine is a great liquid to add, too. Just remember that slow cooking will produce a lot of liquid, and you usually won't need to add more than a cup. Slow cooking is a great way to keep from heating up the house, too.

    Easy Veggie Beef Soup

1 1/2 lb stew meat cubes

    1 can peas

    1 can corn

    1 can green beans

    1 onion diced

    1 can diced tomatoes

1 tsp. Mrs. Dash original seasoning

Do not drain liquid from vegetables. Dump all ingredients into a slow cooker in the morning. By dinner time will all be done. No need to pre cook the beef cubes. If that's not enough liquid, add 1 12 oz can V8 juice.

No, you should never pre-cook any meat going into the slow cooker. Did you know the flat cut of the beef brisket is over 90% lean?

    Here's a good beef recipe:

    Sweet and Sour beef:

    1 small can tomato paste

    1 small can tomato sauce

    1 large onion, sliced thin

    1/4 cup cider vinegar

    2 tbs. brown sugar

    5 whole peppercorns

    1/2 tsp.salt

1 3lb flat cut beef brisket

Mix paste, sauce, vinegar, salt, and sugar together. Lay onions on bottom of cooker. Place your brisket on top. Pour over sauce. Cook on low 6-8 hours, or high 4 hours. has a ton of slow cooker recipes too. Check them out.

There is a web site with Slo Cooker recipes. Google will probably find it for you.

I bought a couple of books - Publishers remainders - one specially good one is "New Recipes for your Slo-Cooker" a paper back by Annette Yates, published by Foulsham.

    ISBN 978-0-572-02636-3

It's amazing just how many things you can cook in these gadgets - like stuffed plaice with orange, hot spare ribs, braised bacon are some of the things you might not have thought of.

Jars of sauces are good - I would heat them up before chucking them into the cooker because it gets the cooking on the go quicker.

    1 lb. lean ground beef

    2 c. cabbage, shredded

1 med. green pepper, seeded & shredded

    1 tsp. salt

    1 tbsp. dried onion flakes

    1/2 tsp. caraway seed (optional)

Thoroughly combine all ingredients. Shape into round loaf. Place on meat rack in crock pot. Cover and cook on high setting for 4 to 6 hours. 6 servings.

1 pkg. boneless, skinless chicken breasts

    1 pkg. chicken soup starter

    1 lg. can chicken broth

    2 c. each carrots & celery

    1 c. slivered onions

Seasonings according to taste (parsley flakes, garlic, salt, pepper, etc.)

Night before: Cut carrots, celery and onion. Take chicken out of freezer. Set out seasonings. Have crock pot accessible. In a.m. literally throw above ingredients in crock pot and fill crock pot with water to the top. Put on lid, turn on medium-high, approximately 8 hours. Remove chicken breasts from crock pot with tongs. Cut meat on plate and return meat to soup mixture. Make rice or noodles for thicker soup.

Put in slow cooker and stir thoroughly: 6 c. water 1 1/2 tsp. salt

Cook wheat at 250 degrees for 7 1/2 to 8 hours or until most of the liquid is gone. This cereal is delicious with maple syrup, honey or brown sugar. Or you could try adding a little milk and some raisins or other dried fruit. Since whole grains are meant to be the staff of life, this is an excellent starter for the day. The amount called for should make eight 1/2 cup servings.

Per 1/2 cup serving (without added toppings) : Cal 153; Pro 4.7 gms; CHO 32.3 gms; Fat 0.6 gms; Chol 0 mg; Sodium 289 mg.

    Diabetic Exchanges: Bread -2.
