If you send someone an email, is it possible to trace the IP address of where it was sent from?

    They are right, it is possilbe, however, not very practical unless you've done something bad and the fbi or nsa is looking for you. The headers of the email specify the mail server through which the email was sent, it does not specify YOUR ip address. If an agency wanted to track it down, they could go back to the operators of the mail server, and find out the IP of the computer that connected to the mail server to send that particular email. They could then contact your internet service provider to find out exactly which customer was issued that IP address at the specified date and time.

    ip addresses can be traced by security agencies. They need the cooperation of the email hosts.

    Yes. It's in the header of every e-mail sent.

    sure click start, run,cdm, type ping + the Email address

    or type tracert + E-mail Address

    Yes, that's how they catch online preditors.

    Anything you do online can be traced back to you.

    Yes it is very much possible. I personally don't know how to do it, but it is possible.

    yup. that's why you need to use a STATIC ip. THEY CAN'T find you with a static ip

    the service providers have it in their system log.

    there no such thing as invisible in the internet..
